Scripts
You'll find below the list of scripts currently available from the scripts and plugin manager. They are categorized as Objects scripts, Startup scripts and Tool scripts. If available, a link will lead you to a description of the script.
Tool Scripts:
- Apply
Distortion
This script applies a distortion to an object and returns a new mesh with the distortion applied.
- Batch
Render
This script allows to render scenes in the background using a separate, low-priority thread. You might want to use instead the RenderUtils plugin batch feature which is more extensive but also more complex.
- Cog
This script creates a cog shaped closed curve.
- Coil
Envelope
This script produces a spiral that envelopes a previously created curve.
- Convert to
Displaced
This script converts a triangle mesh to its displaced shape.
- Distribute
This script produces a series of copies of a selected object and distributes them randomly over the surface of a triangle mesh object.
- Grunge
This script allows to put dirt or dents on a triangle mesh using layered textures.
- Import AI
Paths
A script to import Adobe Illustrator paths stored as .AI files.
- Import
Animation
This script gets Gestures from one mesh/skeleton and creates Gestures for other meshes which have a similar skeleton.
- Import
Skeleton
This script allows skeletons to be imported from one mesh to others.
- Import SVG
Paths
This script allows the import of SVG paths as curves.
- Join
Objects
This script joins a set of selected objects into a single triangle mesh. Non-triangle meshes are converted to triangle meshes in the process.
- Lattice
This script duplicates objects which are positioned at each edge of a triangle mesh, thus creating a lattice of objects.
- Make
Chain
This script creates a chain along with a skeleton for animation purpose.
- Mesh
Mirror
This scripts mirrors a triangle mesh.
- Mirror
Skeleton
Mirrors a partially created skeleton. Useful when creating a symmetrical skeleton: simply create the first half and use this script to complete it.
- Platonic
Solid
This script allows to create one of these five platonic solids: tetrahedron, hexahedron (cube), octahedron, dodecahedron, icosahedron.
- Pyramid
This script creates simple pyramid objects.
- Render
Stereo Pairs
This script renders two images that form stereo pairs.
- Sculpt
This script takes a closed curve and creates a 3D surface which has that curve as its profile.
- Star
This script creates a star shaped closed curve.
- Text
This script builds the model of a string of text, in the form of simple approximating curves, tubes which follow these, flat triangle meshes or extruded solid triangle meshes.
- Thicken
This script gives "thickness" to meshes by extruding the surface outward into a solid object.
- Verify
Scene
This script checks a scene for a variety of problems such as illegal geometry, illegal values for texture parameters, etc.
Object Scripts:
- Bounce
This script creates a random distribution of ellipsoids which fall according to gravity and drag. They bounce off a flat surface a set number of times, losing energy with each bounce.
- Fur
This script creates short fur over the surface of an object.
- Hairy
This script puts hair on a triangle mesh object.
- Index of
Refraction Animation
A simple object script to allow the Index of Refraction of a material to be animated.
- Lattice
Object
This script creates a lattice formed from a triangle mesh object in the scene.
- Mosaic
This scripted object creates a 'mosaic', i.e. a collection of 'tiles' (simple flat cubes) that form an image.
- Outline
This script draws outlines on edges which separate faces that are significantly non co-planar.
- Outline
All
This script draws outlines on edges like the Outline script does, but on all objects of the scene.
- Particle
Jet
This script generates a jet of particles, coming from a circular region in the XZ plane, rising upward, and then falling back down again.
- Tinsel
A script which allows to decorate a tube with objects or group of objects.
Startup Scripts:
- Look and
Feel
This script allows to set a given look and feel, overriding the default laf for the considered platform.
